Most people are not aware of the fact that 20% of animals are killed each month at “no kill shelters” unfortunately, these animals are chosen by the manager of the facility, not a trained veterinarian and these dogs are more often than not pit bulls.
I now have a very special and bitter place in my heart for the Clackamas County Animal shelter, where my own dog was euthanized two months ago. Aside from his death, i have to say the worst part of the experience was being put on hold for several minutes after they initially told me yes, they had him. After twenty or so minutes they came back on the phone and i was then informed he had already been put to sleep. You’ve got to love a place that’s so organized.

Last year the Multnomah county animal shelter euthanized 60% of their animals, while the Oregon Humane Society was able to adopt-out or find foster placement for 95% out of 10,000 of their animals.
Please stop going to breeders and pet stores to find the ideal designer pet and choose to save a life instead.
